To make the most of your mini-cruise to the Egadi Islands you will not need much, the main thing is the desire to live an unforgettable day!

To make your hike worry-free we recommend you to bring sunscreen, essential to avoid sunburn and to protect your skin from sun erythema, sunglasses and beachwear, with a costume change and a pareo to stay more comfortable.

Arriving at the marina of the island, you can first admire the architectural beauty of this place, which recalls the life of the sea, the fishermen and you can see how they have tried to keep this note unchanged over time.

A few steps from your arrival point, you can enter the heart of the island, the historic center, where you will find several bars and restaurants where you can have a quick meal and taste our local and traditional foods, from pasta with hedgehogs, our Sardines or even an excellent dish of fish couscous. You can shop around and buy local handicrafts, as well as find all the necessary amenities such as a pharmacy, supermarkets or a bank.

You can then head towards Villa Florio, the mighty and historic palace that once housed the noble Florio family, those who brought Favignana to its splendour. This structure became, since its construction, the Salotto di Favignana, where Ignazio Florio jr and Donna Franca, invited their friends during the long-awaited period of the tuna fishing, admiring this practice from the top of their terrace, holding parties and banquets.

Today this building is owned by the Municipality, becoming the seat of the Municipal Council, the Municipal Library, the Antiquarium with a collection of wonderful shells and a convenient tourist info point.

After seeing this beautiful villa, during the break of our excursion Favignana, we recommend you to move to the former Florio Establishment, an indispensable stop for those who want to discover the true essence of Favignana and its history. It is also considered by many a relic of industrial archaeology.

The beauty of this plant, which was used to house anchors, slaughter boats and equipment, lies precisely in the role it played in the economic growth of this small island. It shows how the lives of this noble family and the inhabitants of this island have intertwined over time, finding a real social redemption and seeing a real possibility for the abolition of poverty.

When the Florio family bought the Isola di Favignana and the islet of Formica, they gave a great life to the latter, making this factory a real flagship and one of the most flourishing industries of processing and preserving tuna, becoming the first in Italy to canned tuna as we know it today.
