Your exclusive Marettimo excursion from Trapani

Marettimo, 20 miles from the mainland, is the farthest island in the Egadi archipelago, as well as being the wildest and most pristine. It is a wonderful Nature Reserve, where every corner of land and all coasts are protected.

For our excursions to Marettimo and Levanzo we will start from the jetty "Marina Vento di Maestrale" of Trapani, making a first stop of a few minutes to introduce Trapani and a second short stop in front of the isle of Formica, which will introduce us to the wonderful archipelago of the Egadi.

The first destination will be Marettimo, where we will arrive after about 50 minutes of navigation and we will visit the beautiful coves that overlook to the East such as Cala Marino of Punta Bassana and Punta Troia, with stops for swimming and snorkeling discovering the marine life of the island. After a lunch break on boat in Punta Troia, we will set off for an excursion of the most beautiful caves and coves on a local boat with a very prepared local guide, who will give us the opportunity to make stops for a refreshing swim.

After returning from the excursion, in the middle of the afternoon, we will head towards Levanzo, where we will make stops in the most beautiful coves such as Cala Fredda and Cala Minnula, moving to Faraglioni to end the day with an excellent aperitif with tuna products and bubbles. We will return to Trapani in the first evening.

What to see in Marettimo

During the excursion between the coves and the caves of Marettimo you will have the opportunity to discover the most beautiful ones, appreciating the view and the legends that characterize them. Depending on the weather and practical conditions, the guides who accompany us will decide in which coves and caves to stop. Generally the most popular are the following.

First of all, the Camel Cave, which takes its name from its funny shape of a squatting camel. Entering inside you can also see the face of the animal carved by the great Mother Nature and, in the sunniest hours of the day, the rays of the sun manage to enter the cave creating a wonderful play of lights. You can also see three small beaches that once sheltered the Monk Seals.

Another must-see destination is the Grotta del Tuono, which takes its name from the sound of the waves breaking inside, followed by the Grotta della Pipa, where we can find a freshwater swimming pool and where several finds have been found that lead us to regret that this quarry, due to its peculiarities, was inhabited in the past.

Even Grotta Perciata deserves all the necessary attention. It is possible to cross it, almost as if to penetrate the living rock, and you will notice inside it many stalactites, limestone deposits and stalagmites, offering you a truly unique spectacle.
